Hello everybody!

All the LFS i've been frequenting around our area constantly ask me if i'm a WAMAS member and tell me i should join, so here i am! I just wanted to create a thread and introduce myself instead of rudely lurking around looking for answers and reading entertaining threads to make my workday better. My name is Quang and i've been in the hobby for around 2-3 years now so I still have a lot to learn. I am a native to this area and just recently turned 30.

I gotta say that this hobby is something else, I haven't found anything i've been this passionate about for a long long time. The teachings are very rewarding and can be applied right back into real life. For instance, I use to hate mowing my lawn and felt like it was impossible to manage, but then one day it clicked---I told myself i would do it weekly instead of when it got long, just like how i do my water changes, and it has turned something I hated into something that i could be proud of and has made my life so much easier. I have also developed a habit of researching EVERYTHING, aquarium or not.

WAMAS looks like a very well-rounded and down-to-earth group, I look forward to meeting and getting to know everyone better. Maybe i'll come out to a meet sometime. And thanks for creating an awesome resource for reefing!

Thanks everyone! The membership already proves to be invaluable, plus it benefits the hobby locally so i'm glad i can contribute.

sachabballi, I will start a thread soon. I take pictures with my iphone so it doesn't do the tank any justice and i'm sure looking at them is annoying too! i will have to borrow a real camera from my brother and i'll start a tank thread soon.

I recently downgraded (or upgraded depending on how you look at it  ) from a RSM250 to an Innovative Marine NUVO 24.

My first real reef tank was an IM NUVO 16, everything was great so i upgraded to a used RSM250. The RSM250 was promising but it made me not like reefing so much; maintenance plays a huge role and i quickly found out how hard it was to do it in the RSM. I had to bring out the stepping stool for everything, so that got old real fast. Now i'm back with with a larger NUVO and every week all i need is a 5 gallon bucket of new water, life is great again

Welcome, you wont regret becoming  a member. I waited about 4 months after joining wamas to become a member, I cant even bring myself to tell you how much money I would have saved if I would have become a member from the start, not just from the awesome deals but the great advice from members.

guess what buying an LED from china hasn't burned down my neighborhood
