Chuck's 45G Cube

I finally got it up and running over the holiday break.

Here's my short story:

Sorry, I forgot hoe to post external pics here, so I posted the links instead!!

I bought a used 45G cube during the past summer with the intention to quickly upgrade my 28/29G anemone tank, but ran into a big snag!

Well, cracked the bottom by the overflow during tank PU    . So my upgrade was delayed....

Two months later...broken tank sat in basement and the boss started to noticed it. So, I got forcibly motivated into getting the tank fix.

I check around and replacement bottom would run between $150-200 .

At that price for a piece of 2'x2' half inch glass, I opted out for a DIY patch job  !!!

I cut 2 pieces of 1/4" and glued them together and patched the broken bottom section.

The leak test:

Then I tackled the stand:

After many days of preparations for the swap out. It's finally happened!

But before that!

Hours and hours of breaking down the Anemone tank and setting up the cube in the old location (back pain!!!! ouch...ouch...ouch...and ouch......)

Nonetheless, it was worth it!

Awesome, the stand looks very nice.

Looks good chuck

Nice!  I like the lip on the top trim so the tank sits down in it a bit.

Thanks guys!

It looks really great! And I am super impressed by the glass repair job.

Nice save on the repair. Looks good.

Thanks, would have love to replaced the whole piece, but wasn't worth it and didn't want to waste a nice cube!

Getting ready to move the Flame RBTA I recently got overnight shipment from IC 2 weeks ago.

(Post #7 : http://wamas.org/forums/topic/62536-flash-live-sale-continuesends-tonight-power-hours/)

I almost lost it due to late FedEx shipping (almost 3 hours late of scheduled time). Nonetheless, it pulled through, but appears to have lost it original colors!   Hopefully, will regain sometime down the road!!

My original plan was to add 4 new residents to the tank.

- red-line wrasse

-scissor-tail dartfish

-purple dotty - photo shy!

-red srtipe angelfish (evicted!) :(

unfortunately, was able to only introduced 3 new residents. The other resident was evicted within 1 hour of introduction. The trio (yellow damselfish), went after it like crazy and I had to quickly scooped it out of the tank. (now seeking temporary residency in the 70G refugium and will attempt to apply for visa again in the latter )

Came out after 2 days:

Wrasse

Came out the very next day

dartfish

Loving that Red Line Wrasse!

I love these type of wrasse. They're busy little fish swing around and foraging for food

and mine everyone else business!

I finally moved the Nem into the cube. Looks very healthy but still do not have the color that was originally purchased. Only time will tell!

Here is a pic of the nem in its new home!

Looks great, does that big Damsel rule?

He is actually 2nd in command!

The 3 yellow damsels rule the tank! bite me whenever I put my hands in the tank and dig tunnels under rocks and stir sand storm almost daily.

Well! Got a new wrasse from Cliff Puckstable and like to rub it in and show off the rest of the tank mates.

New resident (scott's fairy wrasse) settled in nicely and eats like pigs!

Since last update, I removed 2 yellow damsels to breakup the mischief trio in order to reintroduce the red stripped angel.

Red stripe wrasse and purple dotty also adapted beautifully in the tank and grow much bigger.

Dartfish decided to darted itself out of the 1/4" netting! RIP

Oh! Almost forgot the flame tip bta. It's wasn't do well for a while, but now turning around and looking promising.
