Leishman's New 36x36x24

Recommended Posts

As many of you know, I decided to downsize from my ~400g system (250g display) to a ~180g system (135g display).

My 250g thread can be seen HERE

The new tank plan is:

Tank

36"x36"x24" Custom AGE with two viewable sides being Starfire and a 24"x6"x6" external overflow

Sump

Custom 48"x24"x17" POA by NAGA as seen HERE

Lighting

Display: TBD but will most likley end up with a 10x39w ATI Power Module as seen HERE But initially it will be 1x400w 20K Radium w/VHO actinics and LEDs

Frag tank: Retro 4 bulb T5 rig on an IceCap ballast

Skimmer

Royal-Exclusiv Alpha 250 Cone. As seen HERE

Flow

In tank will be two VorTech MP40s

Return pump will be either a Mag or an Ehiem that I already have

Additional flow in the frag tank section of the sump will be done by a Tunze 6080

Photos to follow in next post...........

Very sweet and enginuitive! I predict a blank off panel above the black acrylic to fill in the demising wall opening.

I wish I had such a set up for a wet room and display adjacent. Will you need to exhaust the wet room on a humidistat?

AP701 on 135g?

44DD in a size 2 dress, what's the difference?

both would make most very very happy!

Can't wait to see it. Curious to know if you had considered just getting one of those Deep Dimensions tanks made by Marineland, and if so, why'd you opt to go with the custom tank?

Need (want):

  • 2 sides starfire
  • External overflow
  • Braceless (AKA Rimless)
  • 27" too deep (high)

Rik-

Have you decided on the bulb combo for the T5s?

Going with a 400w Radium with T5 and VHOs to begin. The T5 move will be down the line, I need to use what I have for now, $1200 for new lights is not a good idea at this point.

With this economy, I know what you mean.

Gotcha. Wasn't thinking about only two sides needing to be starfire, or the fact that internal overflows would take up alot of room in a 36" long tank. Can't wait to see it in place.
